New concept project just dropped and it’s sparkling ✨

Presenting ✨Summer Night Sparkle✨, a pop-up event featuring Women-owned sparkling drink brands filled with other fun activities for guests.

Summer Night Sparkle is a pop-up that would have booths for each featured brand and activities like dry flower arrangement, sunset yoga, tote bag screenprinting, and more so attendees can stay around and mingle.

Most people don’t know this, but my dayjob from 2016 up until early this year actually involved a LOT of event design, and it was always so fun creating visual identities for different events that would exist both in the digital and experiential space.

For event projects, I loooove thinking through the entire guest/user experience, both digital and IRL. When encouraging guests to try out different booths, I love a passport moment, but if they’re busy holding on to all their goodies (I’ve definitely had my hands too full at a food festival 🤭 ), I’m thinking turning the event entry wristbands into the passport itself is a fun and convenient way to go — then each booth can hole punch or stamp their spot on each guest’s band ⚫

And since these would serve a double purpose, it’s one less thing the event organizers would have to get printed (I also had to manage the print budget for events at my dayjob so I had to keep these things in mind! 💸)

I might have gotten a little carried away with the world-building for this concept project — I also created logos for the made-up sparkling drink brands that would be featured at the event!

A really fun part of this concept project was picking out the colors for the event’s visual identity. The wordmark colors are hypersaturated-yet-pastelly versions of colors of fruit flavors you’d find in sparkling drinks, paired with background gradients inspired by how the sky would transform in color throughout the event 🏙️🌇🌃

You can also see the sky colors transitioning to nighttime in the web design background:

With every web design project, I make sure I understand the primary ways a website will be accessed and promoted. An event like this would mainly be promoted on Instagram, so a mobile-first design is key even though it still would be optimized for all screen sizes. Responsiveness is super important for good design and accessibility!

As I’m designing, I also think of what’s possible to develop fairly easily based on the platform that will be used, so yes — this design would totally be doable on Squarespace with a little bit of customization magic 🪄 (you don’t have to be constrained within the confines of default templates!)

This concept project was incredibly fun to do, and I wanted to challenge myself to do things a little differently from my usual tendencies. Event design was also my absolute favorite thing to do at my previous dayjob, and it would be a dream to do more of it in the future. If you’re in need for highl-level visuals for an event you’re planning that ties in seamlessly with your event logistics, reach out!
